Salt + Charcoal is Williamsburg’s authentic Japanese Robata restaurant, located just a few minutes away from the Bedford Ave and Marcy Ave stations.
Chef Jiro Iida adheres to the principle of bringing out the natural flavors of only the best ingredients. What really sets us apart is the subtle flavor of the carefully selected salts, and the smokey aroma of our prized Japanese charcoal. The open kitchen allows a spectacular view of Jiro and his staff preparing their signature dishes, such as handmade tsukune (delicate chicken meatballs) or sugatayaki (daily changing whole fish grilled fresh over glowing coals).
The bar is handled by mixologist and sake sommelier, Yumi Nemoto, finalist in the 2014 World’s most Imaginative Bartender Competition, and champion of the 360 Vodka International Cocktail Competition. Enjoy her original cocktails that have been specially crafted to pair with our food offerings.
Salt + Charcoal, is great for any type of celebration, small scale social event or meetings. The architecture is very Williamsburg-esque - a completely renovated brownstone building with plenty of exposed brick and wood. Downstairs, we have a private dining area that can seat up to 20 and has a celling mounted HD projector, retractable screen, and sound system. Outside, we have sidewalk patio seating for up to 20 with a retractable awning.
